Thanks, it’s a wrap!
By David Hennessey
To open this season, we built pool on stage:
Departing apprenti were all the rage
In some two score roles
For stories from shoals
Of old Greece, updated. Next, we engaged
Ibsen on tour to three states. Our rep saw
A doggie that talked, and the alien jaws
Of puppetry plants
In uppity dance.
In the fall we probed sad hist’ry of laws
From Jim Crowe. We closed in comedy gear
With tale of romance in glist’ning snow sphere ---
Director’s debut
To manage huge crew
Of actors and props. In office we cheered
When national scene brought us a big day:
We won our first grant from the N.E.A.!
New MDC members
By early December
Were at a new high; and we also played
To more record numbers fifth year in a row,
While average attendance soared for two shows!
Our fourth ‘prentice class
Really kicked ass
In twenty plus roles through the year to our close.
On to new stages go some of our team.
We look to the days when they will be seen
Again in our lights
On future show nights.
Now, welcome new faces to Common Good dreams.
So till 2012, we sing you this tune:
“Commonweal thanks you, we hope to see you soon!”
