Commonweal's Wealhouse - Uncommon Productions

A New Spotlight Extends Beyond the Stage

We are incredibly excited to launch Wealhouse, our new play series which will expand our mission in bold new ways. There are many plays which we have been eager to share with you over the seasons, but we couldn’t find a place for them on our mainstage. Wealhouse creates that place. Wealhouse will allow us to explore different voices and stories and tell them in a variety of settings, reinforcing Lanesboro’s identity as an arts campus, and giving each story a place that deepens its meaning for our audience. Most importantly, the Commonweal will use Wealhouse to explore broader horizons with you, our family of patrons. Welcome to the adventure!

The second production, to be performed in August: An Iliad by Lisa Peterson and Denis O’Hare, featuring Commonweal resident ensemble member Ben Gorman. A bard begins to tell the story of The Iliad—but it becomes so much more than a recitation. An Iliad will be presented at Pedal Pushers Cafe in the upstairs space. CLICK HERE for more info.

The first production (performed in March): Bakersfield Mist by Stephen Sachs, featuring long-time Commonweal favorites Hal Cropp and Adrienne Sweeney. Presented in collaboration with Lanesboro Arts and the Spring into Art Festival, Bakersfield Mist will be presented at the St. Mane Theatre, next door to the Commonweal. CLICK HERE for more info.

Welcome to the adventure!
